Hey Upper East Siders, Gossip Girl here your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s Elite…

Just kidding!

Although, I will admit that I can recite every line of that infamous intro that won most girl’s hearts for 6 seasons. At least it won mine, majorly (and gave me some pretty unrealistic expectations--typical). Gossip Girl taught me so many things about life and is probably what ignited my undying love for New York City (hence, why I am sitting here in this coffee shop once again…just 10 days after leaving, oops).

But if there is one thing I will always remember Gossip Girl for and still miss till this day…it is the FASHION. Every. Single. Episode. was filled with what I consider to be the best fashion choices possible. Without a doubt, it is Gossip Girl that first ignited my love for fashion (clothes, shoes, handbags, the whole nine-yards). In fact, my Instagram name (@xoxopaula) is actually a tribute to XOXO, Gossip Girl.

There are so many things Gossip Girl taught me about fashion, but here are the 7 that I consider to be a part of my fashion philosophy:

1. Accessories are Everything

Accessorizing an outfit is arguably my most favorite part of putting an outfit together. Think of it this way:an outfit is a room without the decorations…it’s a room—yes, it could be nice. But what gives it personality and makes it pretty are the little decorations that are added to it to add that extra *pizazz*. Now would you want a room without the decorations?

2. A Pop of Color Goes a Long Way

I love black just as much as the next person, but there’s a reason why we loved Blair’s outfit choices so much…the pop of color she always seemed to incorporate could light up any room. I love black and think it is ultra chic, but let’s be honest—there is just something so appealing about looking at bold colors on an outfit!

3. Sequins… Always a Yes

A little bling never killed anybody…and boy did the girls on GG know that. Sequins in my opinion, will never go out of style. There is just something so grand about it that will always have me coming back to it, especially for big events.

4. There is a hat for basically every occasion

Any one who knows me knows how obsessed I am with hats. I truly believe a person cannot own enough hats. Every kind of hat…floppy hats, fedoras, sun hats, berets, beanies, bucket hats…anything—everything. Hats are the cherry on top of perfect outfit! Literally.

5. Bows, Bows, Bows

(My love for bows may or may not have been because of the million and one bows Blair always seemed to incorporate into every outfit—and she always managed to make it look so damn good!)

Bows are such a classic addition to any outfit. I think it has a way of making an outfit look so effortlessly chic and feminine. Whether it is a bow on your clothes, shoes, handbag or even hat—a bow can make an outfit.

6. Statement Coats Can Change a Look

I am a firm believer in statement coats. If there is one thing you should invest in…it is a statement coat. It can make even the simplest, most basic outfits look fabulous. Hey maybe even make your statement coat your pop of color as well? Cue bright red coat. I brought one coat to Madrid and I wore it everywhere!

7. The “Prep” style will always be a classic

Ahhh the prep style. Since Cher debuted her preppy looks in Clueless, “preppy” has become and still is one of the most classic styles that will probably never go out of fashion. There is just something about this uniform inspired look that makes it feel like you have everything together and are ready to conquer the world. My outfit in this post is actually inspired by the “uniform prep” style in GG….ofcourse I had to add my own touch of pink!

Till next time!

You know you love me,
